GETTING STARTED

It's my first class, what do I need to know?

Feeling a little nervous? Totally normal—but trust us, there’s nothing to worry about! Our instructors are here to make sure you feel safe, supported, and right at home.

Here’s what you need to know before class:

✨ Wear something that allows skin grip—shorts and a sports bra work best. You can layer up with leggings or trackies until it's time to grip.

✨ Bring a drink (non-alcoholic, of course).

✨ No jewellery, watches, or anything that could scratch the pole.

✨ Skip the moisturiser on class day—slippery skin + pole = disaster.

Do I need any experience to join a class?

Nope! Absolute beginners are welcome. We’ve got classes for all levels, so whether it’s your first time or you’re ready to level up, we’ve got you.

What should I wear?

Shorts and a sports bra is best as skin contact is key for grip. You can always layer up until it's time to do a trick where skin grip is needed.

Avoid moisturiser or body oils on the day of your class (trust us, it makes a difference).

Do I need upper body strength to start?

Not at all! Strength comes with practice, and we’ll help you build it. You don’t need to be strong to start, just willing to give it a go.

What if I feel nervous?

That’s totally normal! Pole dancing is a new skill, and everyone starts somewhere. Our classes are designed to be supportive, encouraging, and fun—no judgment, just good vibes.

I'm male, can I come to class to learn too?

Yes! Pole is for everyone, and we welcome all genders at Elements.

I'm under 18, can I still take part?

Unfortunately our insurance doesn't cover us for under 18's so you must be 18 or above to come to class.

Do I need to buy or bring anything with me?

You don't need to buy anything! You can wear clothes you already have - gym shorts and sports bras work great. We recommend bringing a drink along with you (non-alcoholic) and anything that makes you feel more comfortable when you work out (towel etc).

I'm not a complete beginner, what class should I join?

If you have done some pole at a different studio, send us a message via our contact form or via Instagram. Dani will ask you a few questions to check your level and recommend a class to you ❤️

Can I bring a friend?

If your friend is also participating, of course! Your friend will need to create their own account and booking. For the comfort of other students, we do not allow people coming along just to watch.

SAFETY & STUDIO ETIQUETTE

Is pole dance safe?

Yes! Like any sport, there is a risk of injury if form is not correct. We prioritise safe progressions, proper technique, and injury prevention. Our instructors are fully trained, and we make sure you’re learning in a controlled and supportive environment.

I have a nickel allergy, can I still pole dance?

Yes. We have 1 stainless steel pole while is suitable for people with nickel allergies (one of our co-owners is allergic too).

What if I can’t do a move?

That’s part of the process! Progressions exist for a reason, and we’ll guide you step by step. Everyone learns at their own pace, and pole is all about celebrating the small wins.

Do you have somewhere to change before & after class?

Yes! We have space to change before and after class, but we recommend arriving ready to go if possible. Most students come wearing their pole clothes underneath their normal clothes.

Can I film or take photos in class?

Yes, but with respect for others in the studio. Always check with your instructor and classmates before filming. Some classes may include time at the end specifically for photos and videos.
